2018 Mayoral ElectionElliott StonecipherLocalNews

  • Adrian Perkins and Lynn Braggs

UPDATE: Posted Monday, January 28, 2019 … 11:09 A.M.

In a screaming contradiction to his pledge made to the Shreveport daily newspaper just weeks ago, Mayor Adrian Perkins did, in fact, funnel campaign funds of at least $24,950 to companies and family members of local political heavy Lynn Braggs.

In the subject November 23, 2018, Shreveport Times article (SEE link #1 below), reporter Nick Wooten wrote,

“… (candidate Lee O.) Savage also said Perkins has been photographed at public functions several times with Braggs – including at a crawfish dinner.
… Braggs, however, IS NOT INVOLVED in Perkins’ campaign, Perkins said.” (Emphasis mine).

My original article concerning the most recent Perkins campaign finance report missed Perkins’ campaign payments to company Decimal, Inc., while reporting a $4,000 payment for “speech-writing” to Braggs wife, Sharon.

The payment to Decimal, Inc., was made five days after Perkins was elected, on December 13, 2018, in the amount of $20,700, for campaign “consulting.”

Lynn Braggs is shown in the Louisiana Secretary of State Corporations database as President and Secretary of Decimal, Inc., with Sharon Braggs its Vice-President and Treasurer. (SEE Link #2, below.)

The campaign made an additional payment of $250 to Bragg’s wife, Sharon, for “election day activities.”

In total, entries in official campaign finance reports show $24,950 paid to Decimal, Inc., and Sharon Braggs by Mayor Perkins’ campaign.

Extensive reporting has detailed Lynn Braggs deep involvement in seeming Shreveport City Hall water / sewer and related Architect & Engineering Selection Committee corruption. (SEE examples, Links #3 and #4.)

Federal authorities investigating Braggs and others will not – do not – say where their investigation now stands.

I thank those who contacted me on these subjects.
