ALTERED “Break the Glass” event

  • Joel Rodgers

There is an organization in Shreveport that’s providing a network for young women to access information, tools and resources to ALTER their path in life and positively impact their community.

It’s called ALTERED, and its vision is to inspire young women to reach higher and dream bigger, because when young women are given a chance they can impact their community.

The acronym ALTERED stands for; Accountable, Loved, Transformed, Empowered, Resilient, Educated, and Driven.

ALTERED Northwest Louisiana is having their first annual fundraising event, Thursday February 22, 2018. From 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm at the Remington Spa and Hotel, located at 220 Travis St.

The event is called “Break the Glass” and it sounds pretty interesting. The part of the event that sticks out is the breaking the glass part; Libby Glass is providing glasses for the event and each woman will write something that’s holding them back on the glass, then smash it with a sledgehammer, pretty cool, huh?

The night will also feature food by Cloud 9 and cash bar will be available. A silent auction and raffle will be held for all guests.

All proceeds from this fundraiser are used to provide scholarships to the young ladies in the ALTERED program. Each and every one of the youth in the program has been working very hard over the past 6 months to overcome adversity and alter her life positively for herself, her family and her community.

As Women, it’s painful to see the struggles that most young women are faced with, as we have had our own struggles. It’s only when a woman becomes empowered that she can face her challenges and ALTER her LIFE positively. Young women increase their chances of succeeding when they have Mentors to provide Real-Life examples.
