Astros Sign 2019 Third-Round Draft Pick Jordan Brewer

Club signs each of its top 10 selections from 2019 MLB Draft

Per a news release from the Houston Astros:

HOUSTON, TX – The Houston Astros have signed 2019 third-round MLB Draft selection CF Jordan Brewer today. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. The announcement was made by President of Baseball Operations and General Manager Jeff Luhnow. 

The Astros drafted the 21-year-old junior out of the University of Michigan with the 106th overall pick in the draft. During the NCAA Baseball Championship, Brewer batted .272 (12×44) with seven RBI, while recording a hit in nine of his 11 games. Michigan advanced to the College World Series championship game. Brewer received Big Ten Conference Player of the Year honors after batting .343 (70×204) with 52 RBI, 12 home runs and a .403 on-base percentage. He also led Michigan in multi-hit games (24) in his only season with the Wolverines.

Prior to his time at Michigan, Brewer played two years at Lincoln Trail Community College, where he batted .367 with 31 RBI and 38 runs scored on his way to a First Team All-Conference season in 2018. Brewer also garnered First Team All-Conference recognition in his freshman season at Lincoln Trail after batting .368 (68×185) with nine home runs, 42 RBI and 45 runs scored.
