Battle on the Border to Host Fifth Annual Golf Tournament

The Fifth Annual Landers Dodge Battle on the Border Golf Tournament will be held on Thursday, September 12th at Huntington Park Golf Course (8300 Pines Rd., Shreveport, LA). 

This tournament will be a scramble format, 9:00am shotgun start. Area public golfers, coaches and school administrators are invited to participate. Teams are welcome and individuals will be paired with other players. 

Entry Fee is $40.00 per person and includes: green and cart fees, range balls and lunch.

The Battle on the Border High School Football Showcase began in 2011 with the promise of being a special high school sporting event for local and regional football fans. To date, this sporting event continues to highlight some of the top high school football programs in the southern region and country. This year’s showcase, presented by Landers Dodge will take place at Independence Stadium in Shreveport, LA (home of the Independence Bowl) on September 12-14, 2019. The quality of powerhouse high school football teams selected and their respective fan base will surely take high school football in this region to new heights. The City of Shreveport envisions the Battle on the Border High School Football Showcase to become a model in bringing wholesome athletic events to Independence Stadium and this region.

Joel Rodgers

Joel Rodgers joined RSHV News 1 in January 2018 as a reporter/journalist. Prior to joining our team, Joel spent the previous 5 years as a morning show reporter, entertainment reporter, and sports reporter for a local television station. At 6’5”, he's the tallest reporter in the history of Shreveport, but it’s more than just his height that makes this Shreveport native stand out. His editing skills combined with his love for storytelling makes for a creative and talented addition to the RSHV News 1 team. After attending and graduating from Evangel Christian Academy, he earned his Bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism from Northwestern State University. Joel is very active in the Shreveport community having won several competitions in recent years. In 2017, he danced his way to victory in the annual Susan G. Komen event, “Dancing for the Cure." He’s also won the “Mudbug Madness” Crawfish eating contest in back-to-back years and was named the top celebrity chef at the “Louisiana Food Prize” cooking competition.
