Biz Pro Business Spotlight: Aire Serv of Shreveport

For this weeks Biz Pro Spotlight, I was fortunate enough to sit down with Kevin and Shelly from Aire Serv of Shreveport in order to learn a little more about why they do what they do, and the unique HVAC services they offer. They were equally gracious with their time and enthusiastic about serving the community- so without further ado, here is their interview.
Going over the website during the research phase of this Biz Pro Spotlight, I noticed the Indoor Air Quality video, which is really well done, but I was eager to learn more about it. Can you help me understand why someone should be concerned with interior air quality?
Absolutely. So the first thing is that we live in the South, which means heat, humidity, pollen, allergies, and everything that comes along with that. Filtering your interior air is a good way to reduce exposure to all of that. Another aspect to consider is the fact that houses built today are built much tighter than ever before, which means the air outside does not make it inside as easily as it once did. That also means that all the chemicals inside the house, from gasses to aromas put out by candles have a hard time escaping, so managing the amount of this stuff present in your interior air, with something like a HEPA filtration system, is a good way to manage allergies and asthmatic issues.
My next question is that with it finally getting colder, or getting colder some days, is there some sort of checklist that you guys recommend homeowners to run through in order to ensure their unit is able to keep them warm all winter?
The most basic thing a homeowner needs to do is have their furnace surfaced. Don’t just assume it is going to fire up and work like it is supposed to. Our process includes combustion analysis, CO level checks inside the home, cracks in the heat exchange, that kind of thing.
How long have you been in the HVAC business?
Over twenty five years personally. I (Kevin) was pretty much born into the business. It was what my father did, and he owned his own company that I purchased from him in 2003, and then we had a name change in 2013.
That’s a lot of experience. Is that what makes you stand out form the other HVAC companies out there?
Experience is one facet, but we like to think that our customer service stands out. We really mean it when we say that the customer comes first. We put that philosophy first and it informs everything we do, which means that we always go the extra mile for our clients. One thing that I (Shelly) always like to say is that when you call us, we’ll start out as friends, but we’ll leave as family. We respect our customers, their home, their property, and their time, so if we make a mistake, we make it right.
Can you give me an example of that?
Sure. So recently we went to a new construction and one of our newer guys bent a pipe while putting the vent hood in. We called the contractor, and covered the bill for a replacement. We’ve also been known to have carpets cleaned after being stained by a technician.
Do you have any parting thoughts?
Just that your HVAC unit represents the largest appliance in our home, as well as 60% of your electric bill. It is worth you while to protect that investment by having it serviced twice a year.
