SHREVEPORT, LA — Artist and recently retired Centenary College professor Bruce Allen’s unique vision of Paris has been documented in the book Paris: In Another Light. A book signing event on Tuesday, October 8, at 6:00 p.m. at the College’s Meadows Museum will provide a glimpse into his inspirations and artistic process. The event is free and open to the public.
A panel discussion featuring Allen, professor of French Dr. Dana Kress, and professor of English Dr. Jeff Hendricks will begin at 6:30 p.m. The three longtime Centenary colleagues will discuss the development and publication of the Paris: In Another Light book by the new Storyport imprint of the Centenary Press as well as explore Allen’s distinctive style and artistic processes.
During the panel discussion, Allen will complete original live sketches that will be available for purchase. Sketches will be $10 for the general public and $5 for members of the Friends of the Meadows (cash or check only).
Copies of Paris: In Another Light will also be available for purchase before and after the panel discussion, and Allen will sign books upon request.
Allen’s retrospective exhibit, 35 Year Waltz, is currently on display at the Meadows Museum through November 25. T-shirts for 35 Year Waltz will also be available to purchase at the October 8 book signing event.
