Caddo new teacher summit to kick off Monday

Event to welcome nearly 200 new teachers during two-day seminar

Per a news release from Caddo Parish Public Schools:

With the school year fast approaching, Caddo Parish Public Schools will welcome approximately 200 new teachers during the 2019 New Teacher Summit. The event will begin on Aug. 5 at the University Center located at LSU Shreveport.

Beginning at 7:30 a.m. on Monday, members of the Caddo Parish School Board will greet new teachers at registration tables before Superintendent Dr. T. Lamar Goree provides the opening welcome at 8 a.m.

The new teacher summit, which will take place Aug 5-7, will provide new teachers with an overview on a variety of topics including expectations, evaluations, school safety, resources available to teachers and students, benefits and classroom management.

The summit is the latest in a series of trainings offered to teachers during the summer to prepare educators to enter the classroom with confidence.

Caddo kicks off the school year on Aug. 12 with returning teachers entering classrooms on Aug. 8. For more information about Caddo Schools, visit www.caddoschools.org.

Julia LeFort joined RSHV News 1 in May 2019 following her graduation from Florida College with a Bachelor's Degree in May 2019.
