District 1-5A heating up in Shreveport-Bossier

  • Joel Rodgers

After Friday, the 2018 high school football regular season will be half-way over. Crazy right? But don’t be sad. There’s still lots of football, including district play, to help put a smile on your football-loving face.

Much attention has been focused towards District 1-5A; Airline, Byrd, Captain Shreve, Evangel, Haughton, Parkway, and Southwood are the seven schools in district 1-5A.

Going into week 5 Captain Shreve is the only school in 1-5A yet to play a district game. The Gators open up district Thursday against their rival C.E. Byrd Yellow Jackets.

After falling to Haughton in week 4, the Yellow Jackets are now sporting a 3-1 record. While Haughton improved to 4-0.

The Buccaneers will host Evangel in week 5. That game will be in Haughton.

Parkway also suffered its first loss in week 4 after losing to Evangel.

Airline defeated Southwood in week 4 and are now 1-3 on the season. The same record as the Southwood Cowboys.

Going into week 5, here are the current district 1-5A standings. Including overall record and district records.
