Evangel 50 Northwood 14

  • Joel Rodgers

The hype was over, and so was the wait.

Friday night forty-two Evangel football players stepped off their charter bus at Northwood high school. Three hours later they stepped back on the bus and pulled away with a 50-14 victory, and the 1-4A district title.

Friday night the Evangel Christian Academy Eagles defeated the Northwood Falcons 50-14 in a game with much hype surrounding it. Northwood having won the district title in 1-4A in 2018, and Evangel having won district 1-5A in 2018. Would finally met for the first time ever, and to no doubt decide the district.

The win for Evangel did something pretty much unheard of in Louisiana high school football. They completed a “District Slam” –  They’ve now won district titles in every district: 1A, 2A, 3A, 4A, and 5A.

The eagles have won 14 state championships, 1 national championships, and now 28 district titles. Evangel has only NOT won district 3 years in their 31 year history.
