  • Joel Rodgers

Evangel’s 30th year of football kicked off Friday night at Rodney Duron Field.

And just like it did 30 years ago, The Eagles opened their season with a loss.

But just like 30 years ago, the loss will only sharpen the team, because they know the best is yet to come.

Texas powerhouse, Bishop Dunne – a highly athletic football team from Dallas, Tx. opened their season as well on Friday night. The game was hard fought and only decided in the final few minutes of the game. 23-14 was the final score but it seemed much closer than that. Penalties and special teams played a large part in the outcome of the game, but art the end of the game it was hats off to both teams.

Evangel will now begin its preperation for the Battle on the Border game Friday night against North Little Rock High School – Arkansas 7A champs. 8:30 kickoff.

Bishop Dunne will also be in this years Battle on the Border. Saturday vs. C.E. Byrd.

Here are some highlights from the Evangel vs. Bishop Dunne game.
