Entering its 30th season of high school football, Evangel Christian Academy is doing what they’ve always done – play the toughest competition they can find.
The eagles opened the 2018 season against three of the top-40 high school football programs in the country.
In week 1, the eagles lost a close game to Bishop Dunne (Tx) 23-14.
In week 2, Evangel was outscored by North Little Rock 35-20, at the annual Battle on the Border.
Then in week 3, the eagles fell to Texas powerhouse Duncanville 48-14.
Starting out the season 0-3 may not seem good, but Evangel will grow stronger because of it.
The eagles open district play this Friday against Parkway (2-0). The game will take place at Rodney Duron Field on the campus of Evangel Christian Academy. Evangel head coach, Byron Dawson believes that “iron sharpens iron” and the eagles will be a stronger team because of the recent competition.
Evangel might be the best 0-3 team in the country, and if you think they’re having a down year – go check them out this Friday.
Last season the eagles went 6-0 in district, outscoring their opponents 274-31. Look for the same this season.
