Gators ‘CHOMP’ Knights at ninth annual Battle on the Border

  • Joel Rodgers

Saturday night the Captain Shreve Gators dominated at the ninth annual Landers Dodge Battle on the Border against the Woodlawn Knights. The Gators are, who we thought they were, one of the best teams in the state.

Captain Shreve beat Woodlawn 43-12.

For running back DJ Fleming, the Battle on the Border marked his first game of his senior year. DJ is around 400 yards away from the all-time Captain Shreve record.

The gator defense was strong and fast. Scoring two touchdowns in the first half.

Quarterback Darrius Grant led his team up and down the field almost scoring at will.

Sophomore receiver Kendrick Law scored two impressive touchdowns.

Captain Shreve should be of the top 5 teams in 5A – check that – Captain Shreve is top 5. You’ll see.

They play Haughton October 25th and Byrd on October 31st, Both of those games will be at Lee Hedges Stadium.
