Get Gordon and ‘get it done!’

Gordon McKernan's son walks on at LSU

A back-to-back state champion, 27-1 as a starting quarterback, and all-state twice. Anything else? Yea, it’s Gordon Mckernan’s kid.

John Gordon McKernan is a 6-1, 195-pound Pro-Style Quarterback from Baton Rouge, LA. He attended University High (or U-High) where he was a 2X state champion. McKernan is the son of local attorney Gordon McKernan. Yes that guy, the one with the TV commercials and billboards.

Mckernan is walking on at LSU and we’ll see how things go. Check the roster here.

“It’s one of those things where you grow up as a die hard Tiger fan,” McKernan told 247Sports. “Growing up as a kid I always dreamed of running out on the field in Tiger Stadium, but I never thought it would turn into a reality. So I am thrilled to start my journey and try to do whatever I can to contribute to the team. Keep my head down and work my butt off.”

The three-star quarterback on the industry-generated 247Sports Composite was 27-1 as a starter for the University High Cubs, en route to multiple state championships as he played on the nationally ranked team. McKernan was ranked as the No. 78 overall pro-styler quarterback in the country.
