Haughton out-battles Benton for Wooden Hippo

RSHV Game of the Week Buccaneers 36 - Tigers 7

By:
  • Joel Rodgers

Haughton quarterback Peyton Stovall throws for a school record 460 yards and 5 touchdowns. Receivers CJ McWilliams and Mathew Whitten both having over 200 yards receiving. CJ catches 3 touchdowns, Mathew grabs 2 touchdowns (had a third called back).

Haughton rolled 36-7, and in doing so, the Buccaneers won the first annual Wooden Hippo award. The newly made trophy given to the winner of the Haughton vs Benton game. With the tigers being new to 5A, and Haughton head coach Jason Brotherton and Benton head coach Reynolds Moore being friends, the two got together and made a trophy (well… Mrs. Moore actually made the trophy)

After the game we spoke with Peyton Stovall, Jason Brotherton, and Mathew Whitten.

Haughton improves to 5-0, and besides John Curtis, the buccaneers are the best Louisiana team I’ve seen this year.

This week’s RSHV Game of the Week was fun as always. The RSHV Game of the Week is powered by Air Serv of Shreveport. It’s a fun tradition.
