Week 7 of high school football in Shreveport and Bossier City is now in the books. In the game of the week, Byrd made a big statement by outscoring Parkway 49-34 in a shootout. Byrd Running Back Jalin Thomas had a whopping 342 yards rushing and 3 touchdowns in the Yellow Jackets victory. Byrd now moves to 5-2 on the season and 3-1 in District 1-5A. Coach Mike Suggs has the Yellow Jackets peaking at the right time before their trip to Evangel Friday night. Parkway falls to 3-4 on the year and 1-2 in district play.
Airline had a bounce back 49-21 win at North Webster in Springhill on Friday in front of a huge Homecoming crowd. Backup quarterback Jordan Gladney looked good replacing the starter Brad Fream who is out with a shoulder injury. Senior Wide Receiver Coby McGee and Senior Running Back Cameron Davis both had big games with 2 touchdowns in the Vikings win. Airline hosts Captain Shreve Friday night at 7pm at MD Ray Field in Bossier for Senior Night in a 1-5A matchup.
Evangel continued their path of destruction through District 1-5A with a 49-0 rout of Southwood. Evangel has now outscored their opponents 176-10 in their 4 district wins. Evangel hosts Byrd Friday night at 7pm and should continue to dominate
In District 1-4A play, Woodlawn routed Minden 48-7 at Independence Stadium. Knights Wide Receiver Larry Moton had a massive game with 126 yards rushing, 102 yards receiving and 3 touchdowns in the win. Woodlawn’s offense continues to light up the scoreboard each week. Woodlawn travels to Bossier for another district matchup Friday night. BTW defeated Bossier 28-20 for their 1st district win in 1-4A after moving up from 3A because of the merge with Fair Park. Running Back Ly Tavious Anderson had 140 yards rushing and 3 touchdowns in the win.
Loyola fell to 3-4 on the season with a 23-10 loss to St. Mary’s. St Mary’s is off to a surprising 6-1 start. St. Mary’s Quarterback Aaron Howell had 147 yards passing, 191 yards rushing and 3 touchdowns in the victory. On Thursday night, Calvary routed Lakeside 69-15. In District 1-4A play, Northwood routed Huntington 42-14 and Benton edged by North Desoto 34-33 in other Thursday action.
