MONROE, La. (AP) — All of the officers assigned to Louisiana State Police Troop F in Monroe have received an early Christmas gift.
The News-Star reports (http://tnsne.ws/2fZdcT3 ) Bunzy and Lynn Bryant donated new vests which feature ceramic plates that can be used in heightened response situations due to their increased capabilities.
Michael Reichardt, Troop F public information officer, say the normal vests can stop pistol rounds and some shotgun rounds. He says the new vest will stop high-powered rifles like AK-47s and AR-15s.
Reichardt said the state police SWAT team already possessed similar vests, but the Bryant family provided the protective gear for everyone — 90 vests in all.
