LA Tech’s Hale Recognized as C-USA Special Teams Player of the Week

RUSTON, La. – After his 5-for-5 kicking performance (9-for-9 including extra points) in the Bulldogs’ 43-31 victory over FIU, Louisiana Tech senior kicker Bailey Hale was named the Conference USA Special Teams Player of the Week the league announced Monday afternoon.

Hale had a banner game for Tech, racking up 19 points in the Friday-night victory – the most ever by a Tech kicker in a single game. His 5-for-5 day on field goal attempts tied his own school record for makes set last year at North Texas.
Hale is just the fourth kicker in C-USA history with multiple games of five field goal makes.
Against the Panthers, Hale connected from 25 yards (twice), 29, 41 and 45. His 19 total points were the most scored by a C-USA kicker since September 2014 and the third-most ever by a C-USA kicker.
Since missing his first two FG attempts of the season in Tech’s opener at #10 Texas, Hale has been rock solid, connecting on each of his last seven attempts. He is a perfect 13-for-13 on extra points in 2019.
The Bulldogs (3-1, 1-0 C-USA) return to league action this Saturday, taking on the Rice Owls in Houston, Texas. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. on ESPN3.
