LSU-Shreveport 1 of 9 host sites for NAIA tournament

The 11th annual event takes place May 13 – 16

After recently capturing the 2019 RRAC baseball tourney title, the LSUS Pilots are ready gearing up for the huge NAIA tournament, and Shreveport is a huge part of the tournament.

Nine locations features a five-team, double-elimination tournament is about to take place across the country, and Shreveport is one of those sites.

The NAIA has a total of 45 teams competing in nine Opening Round double-elimination tournaments around the country from Monday, May 13 through Thursday, May 16. The winners of each tournament advance to the NAIA World Series in Lewiston, Idaho, beginning May 24.

LSU Shreveport is back in the opening round for an 11th time, which leads the field. The Pilots have participated in every event since the format was established in 2009.

Here’s the schedule:

MONDAY, MAY 13

Game 1- No. 4 Columbia (Mo.) vs. No. 5 York (Neb.) 12pm

Game 2- N0. 2 LSU Shreveport vs. No. 3 Belleville (Neb.) 3:30pm

Game 3- No. 1 Oklahoma City vs. Winner Game 1 7pm

 

TUESDAY, MAY 14

Game 4- Loser Game 1 vs. Loser Game 2- 12pm

Game 5- Winner Game 2 vs. Winner Game 3- 3:30pm

Game 6- Winner Game 4 vs. Loser Game 3- 7pm

 

WEDNESDAY, MAY 15

Game 7- Winner Game 6 vs. Loser Game 5- 12pm

Game 8- Winner Game 5 vs. Winner Game 7- 3:30pm- Championship Game

 

THURSDAY, MAY 16

Game 9- If Necessary Championship Game- 12pm

The NAIA  Opening Round baseball tournaments will determine the participants in this month’s Avista NAIA World Series at Lewiston.

Joel Rodgers joined RSHV News 1 in January 2018 as a reporter/journalist. Prior to joining our team, Joel spent the previous 5 years as a morning show reporter, entertainment reporter, and sports reporter for a local television station.
