Baton Rouge, La. – Freshman cross country runner Davis Bove was named the SEC Men’s Co-Freshman Runner of the week for the second week in a row. Bove finished in 12th place with a time of 24:38.20 in the 5-mile at the 2019 Joe Piane Invitational. He was the second freshman to cross the finish line overall.
“I’m very honored to receive this award again this week,” said Bove. “I wasn’t sure how I would do in my first 5-mile, but Coach (Houston) Franks made sure that I was prepared for it. I’m really blessed to have him as my coach. After this past weekend I’m really excited to see how well we can finish as a team at SEC’s coming up. All glory to God!”
Bove continues to add to his impressive athletic resume as he becomes the only male freshman to win this award in back to back weeks for LSU. Prior to competing for LSU cross country, Bove won the 2019 U.S. Junior Elite Triathlon Championship with a time of 55:14.0. Bove and the rest of the Tigers will be back in action on Saturday October 19, where they will travel to College Station, Texas to participate in the Arturo Barrios Invitational.
