Reporter Timmy Lane was on the scene in the Southern Hills neighborhood in Shreveport on June 2nd, 2019. According to Shreveport Police, they reported to a call at around 3:30 PM and found a man in the front yard of a residence in the 9000 block of Blom Boulevard. He had been shot several times in his upper body and was transferred to Oschner Health Hospital. Witnesses on the scene were taken in for questioning and a possible suspect was detained. The man’s injuries are considered to be serious and life-threatening.
Later, the injured man died at Oschner Health Hospital from his wounds and was identified as 25-year-old Rachard Gross. Detectives learned that 18-year-old Kevin Gaines Jr. and Gross had been involved in a verbal altercation which resulted in Gaines shooting Gross several times. Officers detained Gaines at the scene and he was later booked into Shreveport City Jail for second degree murder.
