Mudbug Madness and crawfish flavored ice cream

Owner of Shaver's Catering opening up ice cream shop in Shreveport

  • Joel Rodgers

Perfect weather and spicy crawfish, it must be time for Mudbug Madness.

Robert Shaver, the owner of Shaver’s Crawfish & Catering, is bringing a new ice cream shop to Shreveport and you can try it at Mudbug Madness. They will even have crawfish flavored ice cream.

‘IDK Ice Cream’ will open in a couple of weeks on Fern Avenue next to Le Madeleine. Shaver says by July 4th, a giant slide will be added to newly built 2-story ‘IDK Ice Cream shop’. The slide will begin at the top and spiral around, and it sounds really cool.

The 36th annual Mudbug Madness Festival is this weekend May 24-26 in downtown Shreveport.

Mudbug Madness takes over Festival Plaza this Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. The festival began in 1984 as a two-day street festival, but now it’s now a three-day festival held each Memorial Day weekend. Mudbug Madness is nationally recognized as one of the Southeast Tourism Society’s Top 20 Events and the American Bus Association’s Top 100 Event in the nation.
