The roster is stacked!

Shreveport has a new football team, the Shreveport Showboats, but they won’t be playing any of their games in Shreveport – because they’re taking their talents to a national stage, several national stages –in fact.

A 7on7 high school travel team. The Shreveport Showboats, the only travel 7on7 team in NW Louisiana. The team is coached by current high school coaches from Calvary, Mansfield, Northwood, and a former D1 college coach.

These are the best area high school football players. Players from Airline Benton Bossier Calvary CaptainShreve Haughton Logansport Mansfield NorthCaddo NorthDesoto Northwood Parkway PlainDealing Richwood Ruston

Their schedule consist of two trips to Houston, one to New Orleans, one to Dallas, and then finishing up in Atlanta at the 7on7 national championship tournament.

The Shreveport Showboats were founded by the Shreveport Student-Athlete Development Program. The Showboats also offer academic tutoring & ACT prep.

Tryouts for the Shreveport Showboats were held Saturday, Jan 19. at Calvary. In all, 64 players tried-out, the following Saturday about half were called back. This coming up Sunday (Super Bowl Sunday) is the Showboats first practice, it’ll be held at Calvary.

A recent Facebook post from their recently created Facebook page, The Shreveport Showboats:  “We are fortunate to have awesome young men from each of these high schools playing for The Showboats! They all play for great coaches at their respective schools so it should be a fun 7on7 season with us being able to bring all this football talent together on one team to represent NW Louisiana. #318OverEverybody#BigGradesBigPlays”

We’ll have a lot more on the Shreveport Showboats as this moves forward. This team is gonna be sick! I can’t wait to see them on the practice field. Below are the rosters for two teams: 18U and 15U team.

This is going to be fun.
