Richwood inmate batters assistant warden

RICHWOOD, La. (AP) — An inmate at Richwood Correctional Center faces a charge of battery of a police officer.

The News-Star reports ( ) 41-year-old Quentain Burleson, of Lafayette, was acting out in a session with his counselor around 10 a.m. Tuesday when he was sent into the hall. The victim, whose name was not release, encountered Burleson there and the inmate reportedly “squared off and hit” the assistant warden in the face.

The victim sustained injuries to his left elbow and hand before several other officers detained Burleson.

Burleson was transported to Ouachita Correctional Center on the new charge. Details of why he was initially being held were not immediately available.
