Shreveport Police have arrested a man in the late morning slaying of a Mail Carrier in East Shreveport.
On June 22, 2019, just after 11:00 am, Shreveport Police Patrol Officers responded to the 1100 block of Dudley Drive on reports of a shooting. Officers arrived to find 52-year-old Antonio Williams suffering from at least one gunshot wound to the upper body. Williams was transported to Ochsner LSU Health Hospital and succumbed to his injuries a short time later.
Investigators with the Homicide and Crime Scene Units launched their investigation. Multiple witnesses were interviewed and evidence was collected from the scene. Just before 9:00 p.m. Investigators procured an arrest warrant charging 32-year-old Michael Gentry, of the 1100 block of Dudley, with one count of Second Degree Murder. Investigators believe Gentry shot Williams as he was delivering mail to the residence. At this point investigators do not believe there was any type of dispute between the men prior to the shooting.
Gentry was booked into the Shreveport City Jail following interviews with investigators. Bond was set at $250,000.00.
Agents with the United States Postal Inspection Service, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives, Federal Bureau of Investigation, and the Drug Enforcement Administration all played an active part in the investigation and arrest of Gentry.
