Shooting in Shreveport Leaving a 2-year-old Deceased

Shreveport Police are now investigating a shooting that left a 2 year-old boy injured. It happened in the 3800 block of Elmer Lane, located near Lakeshore Drive.

Chief Ben Raymond just confirmed that the child suffered at least one gunshot wound. He was transported to Oschner Health Hospital, where he later died. Parents of the child were taken into police custody for questioning.

UPDATE: Shreveport police now have a man in custody, Jaylen Jones, 19, is charged with illegal possession of a firearm by a felon and negligent homicide in what police call an accidental shooting.

Julia LeFort joined RSHV News 1 in May 2019 following her graduation from Florida College with a Bachelor's Degree in May 2019.
