U. S. CENSUS BUREAU: CADDO POPULATION DROP CONTINUES

The population of Caddo Parish dropped between July 1, 2015 and July 1, 2016, down to 248,851 residents from 251,405 … a one-year loss of -2,554 residents, or -1.0%.

The data are from the Census Bureau’s annual Population Estimate program.

Since July 1, 2012, Caddo’s population has continued to drop. As of July 1, 2012, the parish count was 257,396. Today’s release showing 248,851 Caddoans translates to a four-year drop of -8,545, or -3.3%.

Official ten-year U.S. Census data, rather than annual Population Estimates, show a Caddo Parish population peak of 254,969 in the 2010 Census. The July 1, 2016 count of 248,851 thus records an April 2010 to July 1, 2016 loss of -6,118 residents … -2.4%.

The U. S. Population gain between the 2010 Census and its July 1, 2016 official Estimate is +4.7% … from 308,758,105 to 323,127,513.

Louisiana’s population in the subject year barely changed, from 4,670,724 to 4,681,666, or +10,942 people … +0.2%.

The Bossier Parish gain July 1, 2015 to July 1, 2016 is +469 residents … 125,588 to 126,057 … +0.4%. That is the lowest annual increase since the 2010 Census.

In DeSoto Parish, population has also remained virtually the same between July 1, 2015 and July 1, 2016, a gain of only +89 residents … or +0.3% … from 27,064 to 27,149.
