MONROE, La. – The ULM men’s golf team returns to action this weekend when it heads to Shreveport, La., to take part in the David Toms Intercollegiate, hosted by LSU at the Southern Trace Country Club.

Designed by the renowned Arthur Hills, the 7,015-yard golf course at the Southern Trace Golf Course was voted number one in the state of Louisiana by Golf Digest on multiple occasions.

ULM is one of 12 teams competing at the two-day, three-round tournament, which begins with a two-round, 36-hole shotgun start on Saturday. Joining the Warhawks will be Memphis, Wichita State, McNeese, New Orleans, Central Arkansas, Jacksonville State, Nicholls State, North Alabama, Southeastern Louisiana and Arkansas Tech.

This weekend marks the third fall tournament for the Warhawks, who have taken part in the UTSA/Lonestar Invitational and the Graeme McDowell Invitational, which resulted in seventh and 11th-place team finishes, respectively.

The top individual performer for ULM this season is senior Guillaume Fanonnel, who has notched a pair of Top-20 finishes. Fanonnel opened the 2019-20 slate with the best individual finish of his collegiate career, after placing second at the UTSA/Lonestar Invitational. He followed with a 17th-place outing at the Graeme McDowell Invitational. In six rounds of play he has twice carded scores in the 60s, including a 68 in the second round of the UTSA/Lonestar Invitational, which tied his lowest single-round score, which he has replicated on seven occasions.

Andoni Etchenique has also enjoyed a successful start to the 2019-20 season, posting a 34th-place finish at the UTSA/Lonestar Invitational and a 24th-place performance at the Graeme McDowell Invitational. His best single-round outing of the slate (69) came two weeks ago in the Graeme McDowell Invitational, where he finished with a 2-over-par score of 218.

Thibault Santigny will make his 2019-20 debut at the tournament. Santigny competed in six tournaments over the 2018-19 season, finishing in the top 30 twice. Otto Van Buynder ended the Graeme McDowell Invitational in 69th in his first outing of the 2019-20 season.

Keegan McLachlan got his sophomore season off to a solid start for ULM, garnering a 22nd-place outing in the season opener at UTSA/Lonestar Invitational, finishing with an 8-over-par score of 224. Two weeks ago, in the Graeme McDowell Invitational, McLachlan came through with his fourth round in the 70s, closing the tournament 92nd.
