Welcome to National Hot Dog Month! Population: everyone

July 18th is National Hot Dog Day

  • Joel Rodgers

In downtown Shreveport, Mickey ‘The Hot Dog Man’ Davis sells his hotdogs on the corner of Edwards and Texas. We’ve done interviews and stories with him before, and here we are again. It’s the hot dogs’ month, and for many people living Shreveport and working downtown; Mickey Davis is considered to be the the ‘hot dog expert’.

Hot Dog Month is celebrated in the same month that America celebrates independence. That’s why the hot dog is such a fun part of Americana. It’s fun here in Shreveport too.

July is National Hot Dog Month, and for good reason–Americans are expected to eat 150 million hot dogs on July 4th alone.

Join the debate on is a hot dog a sandwich on our Facebook page. And check out more hot dog related talk by clicking, here.

National Hot Dog Day is Wednesday, July 18, and we’re planning some fun between the bun. Stay tuned!
